108m CONCEPT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Project Description

Laurent Giles worked closely with H2 Design during the initial concept development and design. The vessel started as a 95m Russian spy trawler which had never been completed. Altering the hull to suit the H2 design concept was a technical challenge. The superstructure was cut off at main deck and the hull form was extensively modified to suit pod drives with a new extended stern, new bow and bulbous bow developed. The modified hull as proposed by Laurent Giles was extensively tank tested at Marin including free running sea keeping and manoeuvring trials. With 54 guests the vessel is designed to full SOLAS requirements. Preliminary tank plans, re-powering scantlings and structural fire protection were all developed by Laurent Giles. The project was eventually completed by Elefsis Shipyards in Greece.
