Refit Design & Engineering

Preliminary Review & Feasibility

Preliminary Review & Feasibility
  • Affects of additions and alterations on vessel
  • Class and Flag updates
  • Feasibility and budget reports
  • Machinery and systems updates
  • Preliminary alteration designs and feasibility
  • Survey

At the start of any refit project, whether it’s a major restoration, alteration or just a simple make over it’s vital to start with a realistic appraisal of what needs to be done and what can be done.

Updating auxiliary, main machinery and systems requires careful planning and early design work to ensure the refit runs to time and budget

For older vessels any refit can trigger updates to Class and Flag requirements which might be more onerous than the requirements when the vessel was first built. Light ship surveys and inclining trials will be necessary, watertight subdivision may be required.

Whatever is planned Laurent Giles offer a complete initial appraisal and feasibility service.
